Komatsu
We created a state-of-the-art exhibition solution for Komatsu, a global heavy equipment manufacturer for construction, mining, forestry & industry. This solution was presented at the 33rd edition of Bauma, the world’s largest trade fair for construction machinery.
In addition to presenting existing machines, Komatsu also wanted to show the latest machines. However, these were not yet in production. It was up to us to develop a way to still present the latest construction machines at the Bauma.
The way of presenting had to match the organization’s proposition. “Creating value through technological innovation where people, companies, and our planet flourish together.” Therefore, this bilingual solution is all about innovation & infotainment.
For Komatsu, we chose to go big on audiovisual technology. We presented the latest construction machines on 3 large curved LED walls and one straight LED wall. In front of each LED wall we placed a transparent touch display. Visitors navigated their way through the information using the transparent touch display. Think of information such as engine capacity, backhoe bucket capacity & maintenance.
This form of offering information brings a high level of innovation. In addition, it is an interactive solution where information and entertainment come together. This creates exhibition traffic and keeps the visitor longer at the exhibition stand.
To show the latest models at Bauma, the Creative Agency used 3D models. By using these models, it is possible to zoom in on details. Also, items such as the engine are highlighted and there is a 360° view of each machine.
The information on the transparent touch display is designed so that any type of visitor can easily use it. The UX designers at First Impression created a pleasant user experience for this.

In addition to the heavy equipment, Komatsu also offers other services. For example, financing, training, reporting & monitoring. These topics are presented using 3D-printed icons in combination with RFID technology. When the icon is placed on the designated spot it triggers the content.
