From energy-efficient hardware to smart implementations that reduce environmental impact, we make deliberate choices throughout the entire process. And we’re not doing it alone. By challenging our partners and co-creating new solutions, we help move the entire industry forward.
Setting the standard through collaboration
Our sustainability vision is built on collaboration. Partners rely on our expertise to shape the future of AV. We work closely with hardware leaders such as Samsung, LG, Elo, Absen and Ecler to develop solutions that are more energy-efficient and built to last. Rather than adopting existing technologies, we help develop them from scratch.
That mindset led to two major innovations: our Network Operations Center (NOC) and the Smart Deployment app. Off-the-shelf software didn’t meet our standards, so we developed our own. After two years of focused development and investment, we created tools that allow us to support clients remotely, at scale.
The result speaks for itself. We were the first to apply these tools in the AV world on such a large scale, and now partners like Samsung and LG ask us to help guide their own product development. Through regular meetings, we provide feedback on how to improve connectivity and sustainability in their devices. It’s a shared effort that continues to raise the bar.
Leading in cloud development
Secure and remote-ready digital signage is becoming the norm, and cloud development plays a central role. Manufacturers are embracing this shift, and we support their efforts by sharing knowledge and running live tests with development teams. We make sure their environments meet the highest standards for both functionality and safety.
Paul Notebaart, solution developer at First Impression, explains:
“Manufacturers value our insights because we bring a fresh perspective. We’re not just implementing—we’re helping shape the next generation of cloud-based, sustainable AV.”
We also contribute to the development of tools that drive energy efficiency, like API-controlled on/off modes. These have already been implemented for clients like Basic-Fit, helping them reduce consumption without compromising performance.
Taking ownership of our impact
In 2024, we added carbon footprint reporting to our sustainability strategy. By assessing the full value chain, we get a clearer picture of our impact and how to reduce it further.
We’ve introduced a supplier code of conduct that outlines our expectations on responsible sourcing and carbon reduction.
Our strategic purchase manager, Frederic Schuit, is closely involved in these conversations:
“We stay ahead by working closely with both clients and suppliers. That ongoing dialogue is what makes us more than a partner. It’s what makes us a trusted advisor.”
We also maintain detailed sustainability reports for each of our key suppliers. These are updated regularly to ensure transparency, progress and accountability.
Smart deployment, lower emissions
Reducing emissions means rethinking how we deploy and maintain our systems. With our Smart Deployment approach, we pre-assemble and configure components at our own facilities. This reduces onsite work and limits transportation impact.
Our Network Operations Center allows us to monitor and resolve issues remotely, avoiding unnecessary service trips. This alone has reduced emissions related to maintenance by 25 percent.
Working toward a sustainable future
As a certified B Corp, First Impression is committed to combining impact with responsibility. The certification reflects what has always driven us: pushing for better solutions that benefit both people and planet.
Sustainability for us isn’t about compliance, it’s about redesigning how digital signage is created, delivered and managed. With close partnerships and a proactive supply chain approach, we aim to set new standards in responsible AV.
The road to a greener future takes commitment, innovation and collaboration. And we’re here for it. Let’s create impact that lasts.
